48 Hours in Fort Worth, Texas

I headed to Fort Worth, Texas this weekend for a very special wedding. Nonetheless, I wanted to highlight my favorite parts of the trip. My sister and I arrived Friday night and checked in to Hotel Drover in Fort Worth’s Stockyards and it did not disappoint. I always love the energy, food and southern charm I experience each visit to Fort Worth. It’s always a perk being able to spend time with close friends from Texas I don’t get to see often anymore.

Hotel Drover, Autograph Collection

In the Fort Worth Stockyards, Hotel Drover is modern and has that old, Southern Texas vibe we all love and want. The property is absolutely beautiful with a pool in the back and an outdoor bar just waiting to be sat at. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Fort Worth.

The Shops at Clearfork

We had a few hours to spare on Saturday morning, so we decided to go shopping of course. The shops at Clearfork have a great selection of stores and is definitely a place to spoil yourself with something nice. Once it turned twelve o’clock, we knew it was time for brunch. We were so hungry and already at Clearfork when we stumbled upon Fixe Southern House.

Fixe Southern House

Boy am I glad that we tried this restaurant. They had the best biscuits I have ever eaten and I’m still thinking about them.

Must Try: Biscuits, Pollo Frito Loco, Blackberry Mimosa

Address: 5282 Marathon Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76109

Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00AM–9:00PM / Saturday & Sunday 9:00AM-9:00PM

We were so full after brunch that we decided to head back over to the hotel before the wedding. We ended up grabbing a cocktail and sitting by the pool for an hour. If you ever find yourself at the outdoor bar next to the pool at the Drover, I highly recommend the Huckin’ Blackberry cocktail. It was amazing and extremely refreshing. This concluded our exploring for the day because we had to start getting all dolled up for the night ahead.

Honestly, Sunday morning we were exhausted, so we asked for a late check out and slept in for a little. We never sleep in anymore, so that was a great feeling. Before we concluded our stay, we tried 97 West which is attached to the hotel.

97 West Kitchen & Bar

Directly connected to the lobby of Hotel Drover, 97 West’s food is American classics with a contemporary Texas fare and reimagined Southern comfort foods. The perfect place for what we needed.

Must Try: Sweet & Spicy Bacon, Hot Chicken & Biscuits, Guajillo Madi Tacos, Toastadas

After our amazing meal, it was time to head to the airport. We flew in and out of DFW airport and took ubers to and from the hotel. It was a very easy arrival and departure.

Overall, it was such an incredible weekend I’ll remember forever. If you’re ever in Fort Worth for a short amount of time or even a long time, I highly recommend checking these spots out especially Hotel Drover.
