Prado Mercearia: Lisbon, Portugal

The minute I walked into Prado Mercearia I knew it would be a meal I would never forget. Located in the heart of Lisbon, this quaint wine bar brings a new flare to old classics. The ever-changing seasonal menu is small but brilliant. The wine list is exclusively of Portuguese organic and natural wines.

All dishes are created each and every day from what they have on hand and accompanied by locally produced drinks. We ordered five dishes in total and two different white wines.

Oysters

Truly the best oysters I’ve ever had. You could taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. These were not on the menu, but if you ever visit, please ask if they are serving them. The parsley oil was out of this world.

Trevally Crudo

This marine fish was topped with green tomatoes, cucumber, and marjoram. For those who don’t know, marjoram is an herb with sweet pine and citrus flavors. Trevally has a slightly tangy taste to it which I loved.

Muxama Tomato Salad

Muxama is a Mediterranean delicacy consisting of salted-cured tuna. It was paired with red tomatoes, cherries, and croutons. Definitely one of my favorite dishes.

White Fish with Zucchini

This flaky white fish melted in your mouth. The zucchini, parsley oil, and fish sauce gave a wide range of flavors.

Yogurt Ice Cream

Of course, dessert was a must. The yogurt ice cream was topped with blueberries, beetroot and meringue. I’m not the biggest dessert fan, but I was a fan of this!
