It was so easy to fall in love with Big Sky. The people, the views, and of course the food all impressed me. I never thought I’d enjoy the food scene here as much as I did.

Horn & Cantle

Horn & Cantle is a must in Big Sky. At Lone Mountain Ranch, this rustic farm‑to‑table restaurant reflects true Montana heritage. Their elk meatball was truly one of the most amazing things I’ve ever tasted. Make sure to book one month in advance because it’s the hottest restaurant in town.

Must Try: Elk Meatball, Little Gem Salad, Wild Game Bolognese, Bison Tenderloin, Truffle Fries

Cortina at Montage Big Sky

My family and I stayed at Montage Big Sky and came back to Cortina two times during our stay. Cortina incorporates traditional Italian cuisine infused with local flare. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get special pasta dish prepared by Chef Nicholas Olivas.

Must Try: Burrata, Mussels, Carpaccio, Any of their pastas and if you’re lucky, a chef-prepared special pasta by Chef Nicholas Olivas

Riverhouse BBQ

Riverhouse is the go‑to Big Sky restaurant for authentic Hill Country barbecue. Located along the banks of the Gallatin River, this is where you’ll find locals and visitors gathered for a good meal and a good beer.

Must Try: Sweet Corn Nuggets, Cheese Curds, Brisket, Tri-Tip, Cornbread

Tips Up

Tips Up is simply a good time. In the heart of Big Sky’s Town Center, this lively restaurant has casual eats and endless amounts of games. Make sure to check the live music calendar on their website as well.

Buck’s T-4 Restaurant

Buck’s T‑4 prides themselves on their genuine Montana dining experience. They bring together a unique combination of traditional local ingredients. It’s been a favorite amongst locals and visitors for a long time.

Olive B’s Bistro

Olive B’s is known for its incredible American food. The upscale bistro is perfect for any meal of the day. I highly recommend the French onion soup!

Michaelangelo’s Ristorante Italiano

Michaelangelo’s is extremely popular Italian spot after a day on the slopes in the winter. However, no matter what time of year it is, you’re guaranteed to leave satisfied. Prepared by award‑winning Chef Michael Annandono, each dish is authentic and memorable.

Must Try: Carpaccio, Truffle Sacchetti, Pesto Gnocchi, Bison Ravioli, Elk Chops, Tiramisu

Lotus Pad is a vibrant eatery in Big Sky’s Town Center serving Asian cuisine, Thai specialties, and inspired cocktails with local and organic ingredients. If you’re looking for a change in cuisine from the local specialty, look no further.

The Hungry Moose Market & Deli

With two locations, the Hungry Moose is Big Sky’s go‑to grocery, deli, florist, wine and beer store, gift shop and so much more. I recommend grabbing their freshly prepared sandwiches or salads. Don’t forget to grab a hot baked good from the bakery as well!

Caliber Coffee Roasters

Caliber is a local favorite. Roasted right in town, this coffee shop was voted best in Big Sky 5 years in a row! They also have delicious breakfast bites.
