Capo Creek Winery: Healdsburg, California

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Capo Creek Winery, a family-run winery located in heart of Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, and immediately knew we found a hidden gem.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner Mary Roy. She told us her remarkable story of how her and her husband Bob Covert purchased the vineyard in 2013. I won’t give too much away since I highly recommend visiting and hearing the story.

We decided to do the “Taste of the Day” pairing which features a flight of four premium wines with two food pairings prepared by Chef Winemaker Mary Roy. We were served a pasta, dessert, and a honey filled chocolate to end our tasting. This was the best food we’ve ever had at a winery tasting. Everything was delicious and left us wanting more.

Not only were the wines crisp and delicious, we were blown away by the unique variety of wines they produced on property.

One thing we always ask when visiting wineries is the story behind their name and labels. Their name comes from the word “Cāpo“, a device used on the neck of a guitar to shorten the strings and raise the pitch. At Capo Creek, they chose the musical “capo” logo to represent their return to a life centered around life’s simplest pleasures, from the pure, melodic sounds of songbirds and acoustic guitar strings to the refreshing warmth of abundant sunshine and fresh air.

Next time you’re in Healdsburg, please pay a visit to Capo Creek Winery.
